Ai Jiang on society, culture and technology: the past & future
Ai Jiang is a Chinese-Canadian writer, a Nebula Award finalist, and an immigrant from Fujian. She explores themes of societal influence, cultural assimilation, and the intersection of technology and humanity in her work. She wrote A Palace Near the Wind and Linghun.
Her work is personal, drawing on her own experiences: her story “I Am AI,” was inspired by her time as a ghostwriter and the emergence of AI technologies like ChatGPT. Other works including “Give Me English” and “Missing Dolls Around the World,” deal with the complexities of language, cultural identity, and the impact of historical injustices. When you read her stories, they stay with you for a long time.
