Agatha started reading and writing from a young age, driven by her aunt’s encouragement to read books and write reviews. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Agatha started a book club on WhatsApp that quickly grew to over 120 members across 15 African countries.
This led to the creation of Read Us Africa, whose goal is to empower young Africans as readers, writers, and leaders. This involved a publishing house, a bookstore and gradually reaching a million readers. The goal is to reach 8 million by 2030.
Agatha is optimistic about the future and believes that hope and faith are key to pursuing one’s dreams. She strongly believes in the importance of Africans reading and writing African content, in contrast to the current habits focused more on Western literature. Her goal is to inspire the next generation of African leaders through Read Us Africa.
She is a member of USAID Youth Leaders Advisory Board (YLAB), SDG-4 Global Youth Ambassador with Their World, a Global Peace Ambassador and a 2023 UNICEF Youth Innovation Winner
